The following artists have each contributed songs to Stuck
Like Chuck. I personally love each and
every band on this list and I am honored to have their music in the film. Please check them out!
Army of
Freshmen
I first
started listening to them in preparation for the Get Happy Tour, an annual tour
they do with Bowling For Soup. I love BFS and jumped at the chance to see them
live again but the big surprise of the night was AOF. They put on an amazing
show and I’ve been hooked since. I actually changed the name of our female lead
from Julie to Juliet after hearing their song of the same name. I contacted
them to see if I could use it in the film and they said yes. I know I said I would
not give the names of the songs but this one was pretty obvious and it was
already featured in the trailers anyway. You should still check out their other
stuff too though. They have a new album coming out this summer, which I am
looking forward to and you should too. (www.myspace.com/armyoffreshmen)
Danger Is
My Middle Name
This band
has some damn catchy songs with great lyrics and a great sound. I downloaded al
the songs they had available and put them on my ipod immediately. I didn’t
think of using them in the movie at first cause none of their songs fit. Then I
decided to cut down some scenes and turn them into a montage, and their music
finally clicked. They now fit perfectly into the film. You will definitely hear
them singing on the radio. (Listen to Revenge on the Radio to get that joke)( www.myspace.com/dimmn)
Gone Baby
Gone
I love
all their songs and have actually caught myself singing some of them when I’m
alone. They just get stuck in your head. Ironically, the song I find myself
singing the most is not the one featured in the film. Their song was always in
my head while writing the film and I am so glad they let me use it in the film.
The song is perfect for the film and is an all around great song. (www.myspace.com/gonebabygone)
Goot
Goot is a
one-man music empire. He writes and records all his own stuff with all his own
equipment. He also happens to play every instrument on each track. Then he
sells all his stuff on his own. He is the me of music. And just like me, he is
good at what he does. I have been a fan of his for a few years after
discovering him by accident. He had a bunch of songs available for free
download and he still has them up now. Go check him out this instant. He also
happens to be just one year older than me, which is very cool. (www.myspace.com/goot)
Greenbrier
Lane
I
actually wrote in the script that I wanted this band’s song in the film before
I had even contacted them. They have one song that inspired a very visual scene
in the film and we filmed it hoping we would get these guys to say yes. If the
band declined, I probably would have scrapped the shot because it was specifically
designed for their song. Luckily they said yes and the scene is one that often
gets many compliments. (www.myspace.com/greenbrierlane)
Hush
Hush, Commotion
I was
worried I would not get this song after I saw that the band that performed it
was no more. Then I found out that the band actually just had a member and name
change. I contacted them and they said yes but to credit it to the new name.
Their song now kicks off the movie and sets off the mood perfectly. You wont
find the track on their Myspace because of the change but you will find several
other great songs. (www.myspace.com/hushhushcommotion)
ICE NINE KILLS
These guys are signed to
Red Blue Records, which is the same label as Gone Baby Gone. When I first got
permission to use the GBG song, I started looking at other bands on RBR and
instantly loved Ice Nine Kills. The song I am using in the film is one of their
acoustic tracks and it is easily one of the best songs I’ve heard all year. (www.myspace.com/iceninekills)
Kevin
Macleod
You have
heard his music before, you probably just don’t know it. He puts all his music
on his website for free download and it is all royalty free, as long as you
somehow credit him. His music is literally in thousands of videos on Youtube,
including mine. I, of course, utilized his great library of tracks in my film.
Check out www.incompetech.com to hear
some of his stuff and maybe you may want to use it in your next video.
Raining
& OK
This band
seems to be a favorite among a lot of the people who have seen the film. It’s
easy to see why. The minute I stumbled upon their music I knew I had to have
something of theirs in the film. The music is great, the lyrics are smart and
heartfelt and each song is truly amazing. I got their whole album due to a mix
up and I am so glad that it happened. I can’t stop listening to it. (www.myspace.com/rainingandok)
SAIL BY THE STARS
Like Goot, Josh is an
extremely talented one-man band. His voice is great and the lyrics are catchy.
His music is addicting and I can see him breaking out very soon. His new 5
track ep is pretty much perfect and I highly recommend you give it a listen. (www.myspace.com/sailbythestars)
THE SCENIC
This was one of the first
bands to contact me once The Daily Chorus posted a song about the music in our
film. I gave them a listen and was blown away but they were just about to
release and album through Victory Records so I did not think I’d be able to use
any of their tracks. When I was in need of a song for the new cut of the film,
one of theirs worked perfectly so I decided to give it a shot. I’m so glad I
did. Their music is amazing and they are all awesome for agreeing to let me use
their song. (www.myspace.com/thescenic)
Stuckey
and Murray
These
guys are hysterical and their music WILL make you laugh. I couldn’t think of a
better way to end the movie than with a track from these guys. Aside from being
talented musicians, they are also talented both in front of and behind the
camera. They have a company called We’ll Fix It In Post and many of their
videos circle the net on sites like Youtube and Funny Or Die. (www.myspace.com/stuckeymurray)
